ECOOP 2025
Mon 30 June - Fri 4 July 2025 Bergen, Norway

Public transportation

The tram (Bybanen) runs from the airport (Bergen Lufthavn Flesland) to the city centre (Byparken) at there is also a stop at the conference venue (Kronstad).

For bus tickets and tram tickets, we recommend the Skyss App. If you also plan to visit other places in Norway, consider the ENTUR app which covers all of Norway. You will have to register your payment method (most likely credit card) in the app on the first purchase, and you will need a working mobile phone number to receive the activation SMS. You can also buy tickets with your bank card at major stops -- note that tickets are active immediately, i.e. you cannot pre-purchase single-tickets. Why not directly buy a weekly ticket, it pays off on the 6th trip!

Getting to Bergen

Bergen can easily be reached through its international airport, which is also served by low-cost airlines.

In addition, Bergen can be reached by train via Oslo. If you have a weekend before/after to spare, consider combining the train with other activities along the way! Please do note that with a little bit of sleuthing you may be able to book the individual segments of this trip yourself potentially at a better price. Remember that this time will be high-season for tourism in Norway, so consider making reservations well in advance.

Another alternative is the overnight ferry from Hirtshals/Denmark. You can also travel northwards from Bergen along the coast e.g. to Trondheim or beyond with Havila Kystruten or Hurtigruten.

From the Airport

At Skyss.no you will find routes and timetables for public transport in Bergen and the surrounding area.

For buying tickets for the tram we recommend the Skyss App: https://www.skyss.no/en/tickets-and-prices/buying-tickets/skyss-ticket-app/

From Bergen Airport to Bergen city centre:

  • The tram (Bybanen) runs from the airport (Bergen Lufthavn Flesland) to the city centre (Byparken) and takes around 43 minutes. You can buy single- or period-tickets from the ticket machine (works best with credit card), or through the Skyss Ticket app.
  • The airport express bus “Flybussen” runs to Bergen center and can be found at the left hand side just outside the main terminal building. The airport bus runs an express route that only takes 20 minutes to the Bergen Bus station (located in the city center).
  • Taxi stops are just outside the main terminal building. You may want to consider pre-booking a taxi through one of the apps or the web when you land to get a fixed price guarantee (ca. 50 EUR during day-time).
