Abstract

The aim of this talk is to present our current work on a UML extension for Local-First Software. This work takes place in the context of a broader study consisting of studying Local-First as an opportunity for Green IT (see Appendix). This UML extension aims to introduce data locality, compute locality, and energy consumption in system design. We believe it is possible to reduce designers’ reliance on datacenters by providing them with design tools relying on already familiar languages such as UML.
